Emily Henderson’s Market Editor Has the Best No-Fuss Wreath Idea

Being the young and fun spontaneous reveler that you are, you decide to throw a last-minute holiday party. Your dry bar is stocked and you’ve whipped out your go-to cookie recipe. All that prep leaves little time to dream up some elaborate decorations, but we have an idea—or rather, Jessica Bunge does. 

The market editor at Emily Henderson Design gave us a peek into her gorgeous apartment, and it’s full of covetable Christmas decor ideas. We zeroed in on the hanging branch in her kitchen: Nailed to a cabinet and accompanied by a series of colorful velvet ribbons (no bow required!), it’s the best example of a low-effort detail that makes a big impact. Seriously, all you need is an impressive-looking bough.

“This was a crazy-cool branch Emily got at the L.A. flower market that she didn’t end up using in her home, so I swooped in and snagged it for my home,” says Bunge. She recommends heading to a Christmas lot to get a scrap branch for cheap (or free, if you’re lucky). 

Her new take on a wreath isn’t the only moment from her holiday-ified home that has fully put us in the spirit. In lieu of a formal dining room, Bunge turned her kitchen banquette into a festive buffet table for parties, complete with a Ferm Living candelabra and a minimalist wreath. 

Short on space? Take a page from the editor’s book and turn one of your kitchen shelves into a makeshift drinks station. 

This wreath took about five minutes to create and only requires a large gold hoop (which Bunge bought at a crafts store), another leftover piece of greenery, some floral wire to attach it, and a few more ribbons. “It’s the easiest DIY you’re going to find, I promise,” she says.  

We’re loving the pillar candles lined up in the entryway cutout for setting a calming mood from the second guests walk through the door. 

How pretty is Bunge’s tree? The navy and fuchsia ornament palette is pulled from accessories elsewhere in the living room to tie the whole thing together. The absence of red and green has never looked better.
