Earth Tu Face creates handcrafted, pure botanical skincare that comes straight from the founders’ lush California gardens.
ON ANY GIVEN DAY,
herbalists Sarah Buscho and Marina Storm can be found in one of their Bay Area gardens harvesting lavender, mixing up a sea-salt-organic-plant-oil body scrub in their apothecary, or selling crystals made by friends in their store, Earthship. As the faces (and hands) behind the plant-based, 100% natural skincare line Earth Tu Face, Buscho and Storm have created a “lean, mean, and green” hybrid workspace-garden that is a living embodiment of their professional and personal values: “We think about the life cycle of everything that goes into the product; the hands that make the product being treated well, to what happens inside the body, to the product going down the drain, to what happens to the packaging—the whole picture,” Buscho says. Their “office” space, built in 1898, includes a former bar that is now their functioning apothecary, where the duo creates their products by hand using carefully sourced items like homegrown calendula and roses. “Our brand is about bringing old-world botanicals that work and are luxurious, into modern form.” That’s a philosophy that informs the interiors, too. They salvaged much of their furniture from local reuse warehouses, and their plants double as decor, bringing a fitting earthy-industrial feel. Buscho and Storm seem most content, though, when their ethos travels beyond their physical walls: “We are animal lovers and plant lovers. We think about the whole planet.”
Visiting the Pacific Rim, Buscho discovered lip balm packaged in shells. She thought: “That’s a zero-waste, compostable container. We can do that!” These pretties house the brand’s botanical solid perfumes: jasmine, geranium and vetiver, and leaves and wood.
Buscho and Storm create the all-natural Earth Tu Face line by hand-picking the flowers from their gardens, and blending herbs and oils into facial serums, toners, and masks.
