We spend a third of our lives asleep—that means our bedroom is the most lived-in space in our homes. It’s the room where we start and end our days, and that’s why the rituals that happen there are extra-important. In The Wind Down, we’ll be exploring the nighttime routines of people we admire and taking their advice to make the moments just before bed feel our best.

The moment Cyndi Ramirez gets out of bed, she’s on the move—hardly surprising given she’s the brainchild behind Chillhouse, a destination for modern self-care, as she calls it. Ramirez spends her busy days shuffling between the brand’s Manhattan outposts, building out a rad merch line, and tackling the craziness that comes with owning a growing business.

Having recently relocated to Bushwick, with her husband, Adam, and their pup Rocky, she tries to end the workday by a reasonable hour. In the evenings, Ramirez unwinds by ordering Seamless with her husband, switching into pajamas, and lounging in front of the TV. But it’s not all R&R from there—she admits she only gets halfway through a show before pulling out her laptop to squeeze in a little more work. Such is the life of an entrepreneur. Ahead, Ramirez shares her nighttime routine in full.

Skin saviors: I separate and display all of my products on my vanity to remind me to use them, plus it’s fun to see the options and alternate between them. That said, I keep my skincare routine simple: just two steps. I start with a foam cleanser and finish it off with a sleeping mask of nighttime oil.

Best bed: I love white-on-white sheets, and just found a set that comes really close to hotel beddingit’s so crisp. I’ll typically sleep on one pillow, even though we currently have eight on the bed.

Aromatherapy: I have the Chillhouse candles on rotation. The Big Little Sur candle from our Everyday Vacay collection is my favorite; it’s the perfect fall scent. While those are burning, I’ll have my Dyson Pure Hot+Cool on in the corner of my room capturing the impurities floating around the air. I love that it also regulates the temperature in the apartment since it both heats and cools.

Late-night snacks: My sweet tooth cravings typically hit me right before bed, so we like to keep dark chocolate snacks handy. I’ll usually drink red wine—biodynamic wines are my vice—and alternate between popcorn or vegan ice cream.

Next-day prep: I do a quick recap of my calendar, lay out my clothes (if there is an outfit change involved), and do a general overview of all my to-dos.

Nightstand essentials: I always keep a glass of water and a silk eye mask close to my bed. Also nearby is my Dyson Lightcycle, which I turn on to help ease me into pre-sleep mode. I love that it prompts me to wind down by matching its light to the time of day, turning warmer as it gets into evening hours and eliminating blue light, which is known to keep you awake by suppressing melatonin production.

Plugged in: My phone is on silent mode for about 90% of the time—if it vibrated all day long, I’d get nothing done. That said, I still keep it in the bedroom with me at night.

Last laughs: I fall asleep to reruns of Friends. It always helps put me in a happy, deep slumber.
