This Halloween, get everyone involved in the treat-making. Set out cupcakes, bowls of icing, and clean cupcake pans filled with an array of spooky-and-sweet toppings, and let guests dress their dessert in costume. Treat bars of any kind are great because they’re an activity, decor, and dessert all in one. For this set-up, you can even make it a game: Have a contest and award people for the “scariest cupcake” “craziest cupcake,” etc.

What You’ll Need:

  • Ghost and Hat toppers template (printable PDF)
  • Plain cupcakes
  • Bowls of frosting
  • Cupcake pans
  • An array of toppings—think things like orange and black sprinkles, orange and black candies, and chocolate-covered pretzels; gummy bears, bats, orange slices, pumpkins, and candy corn; cat-shaped black licorice, candy corn, and marshmallows in Halloween shapes.

How To:

STEP 1:

Fill cupcake pan with different toppings and set out with iced cupcakes. Or, if you really want to make guests work for their dessert, leave the cupcakes plain so guests can ice them (tip: not recommended for kids).

STEP 2:

Now, get creative! And don’t be surprised if guests skip the cupcakes and go straight for the candy.
