Having a dedicated office in your house is a luxury. Most of us aren’t willing to give up an entire guest room for a standing desk, and then there’s the small-space dwellers among us who are forced to take Zoom meetings from the living room or kitchen. That’s where the “cloffice” comes in. A mix between a home office and walk-in (or reach-in!) closet, the cloffice uses a spare nook to help you get some work done. And if you’re someone like fashion influencer Meredith Peck, it’s often a spot where you can prioritize getting dressed in the morning. Talk about the easiest commute ever.

Tuck the Desk Away

Whether you work from home or not, transforming your closet into an office can be a pretty convenient thing when you’re winding down for bed and suddenly remember you never hit send on an important email. That’s how we imagine the homeowners of this Studio Dorion-designed Philadelphia row house making use of their bedroom desk. Once the task is complete, they can simply shut the doors and hit the hay.
Build Your Wardrobe Around Your WFH

A built-in desk like the one Melissa Lee, the founder of Brooklyn-based firm Bespoke Only, added to this Chelsea apartment can also double as a vanity. For Lee, the key to streamlining the space while still making it functional was avoiding “visual bulk” (i.e., no chunky dressers and imposing armoires). The cabinets include space for office supplies and plenty of room for hanging clothes. And to make laundry days a true breeze, the designer integrated a pull-out ironing board and drying rack in one of the cupboards.
Step Into Your Personal Showroom

You don’t need fancy built-ins to transform a small room into a cloffice—just the right furniture. Molly Kidd designed this space to be “part atelier, part sanctuary,” complete with a hanging rack, comfy daybed, and a slipcovered chair at a farmhouse table that’s got quite the view.
Pop the Doors Off

In a city like New York, every inch counts. Designer Alvin Wayne showed how to make the most of an awkward opening with a sloped ceiling by adding oak shelving and a custom desk so the chair can tuck neatly under the tabletop.
Turn the Inside Into a Massive Moodboard

An accordion door allows this double-duty homework station to open for business in a flash. Melbourne-based stylist Simone Haag clad the walls in cork, effectively creating one giant pinboard that can be used to display a changing array of art, messages, and photos.
