The team behind the popular West Village Cafe Clover has opened Clover Grocery, a design-forward grocery store and private event space offering fresh products from the restaurant’s kitchen along with specialty beverages and a curated selection of wellness-minded products. Edible offerings at the adjacent storefront include their own line of fresh pastas, sauces such as cumin maple barbecue and a no-sugar marinara, spreads such as sweet potato guacamole and chickpea pistachio hummus and soups, salads, and sandwiches. Superfood-infused waters and tonics (think activated charcoal lemonade, blended matcha and cold-pressed turmeric, and cinnamon and black pepper milk) are also on offer.

But it’s not all cauliflower rice and kombucha. Clover Grocery also stocks products from specialty purveyors including Westwind Orchard (honey and jams), a large selection of health supplements from brands like Moon Juice, and organic skincare products from Linné and Vintner’s Daughter.

Designed by Andre Mellone of Studio Mellone in collaboration with partner Kyle Hotchkiss Carone, Clover Grocery’s stylish interiors are partly inspired by the beauty and charm of European patisseries and food halls of the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s. Floor-to-ceiling curved mahogany shelving lines the perimeter of the clean space, punctuated by thick, rounded gray bardiglio marble counters designed to showcase the shop’s offerings. A central custom market table by day doubles as a dining table by night, perfectly suited for intimate dinners after the shop closes. A softly lit ceiling fixture hangs above Douglas fir floors, bringing the design elements together and warming the space at all hours.
