The first time I took a look around Domino design director Brit Ashcraft’s charming Victorian home, I didn’t ask her any questions about where she bought her furniture—I assumed most of it was old. After all, she lives in Hudson, New York, where antiquing is like a sport. When we did finally get around to diving into her sourcing list, I was shocked to find out that a few pieces that look convincingly vintage are actually from one big-box store.

The metal bed frame in her guest bedroom, the well-loved reading chair in her dining room, the classic flush mount in her bedroom…they’re all from Wayfair. So, after revealing the full tour of her house, we had to dedicate a shoutout to all her best discoveries.
The Blanket Ladder
With very few closets in her house, Ashcraft likes to offer her guests vertical storage in the form of a ladder. Most importantly, it doesn’t take up a ton of floor space in the same way that a trunk or basket might.
The Metal Bed Frame, Part 1
Between the turned spindles, curved headboard, and slightly distressed finish, I would have bet anything this bed frame was thrifted. Turns out, it’s actually less than $400 on Wayfair right now and looks really good when dressed up with a block-printed quilt and a floral lumbar pillow.
The Metal Bed Frame, Part 2
Ashcraft opted for another black metal bed frame for her guest room, this time with a simpler silhouette and no footboard so people can easily slide in and out of the tight space.
The Spindle Chairs
The story behind all the black accents in her home? It keeps the Victorian house from feeling too country-kitschy. These chairs strike the perfect balance between edgy and traditional.
The Solid Wood Side Table
In her living room, Ashcraft topped this solid acacia wood table with an oversized West Elm lamp designed by Colin King—two big-box finds that have something a little sculptural going on.
The Farmhouse Flush Mount
File this classic fixture under affordable updates. Ashcraft and her husband splurged on renovations like bathroom wallpaper and exterior paint but saved on lighting. This flush mount (and its matching pendant partner) were no-brainers for their bedroom.
The Velvet Reading Chair
This deep-seated velvet armchair is a close look-a-like to the Wayfair one situated in the corner of Ashcraft’s dining room. She admits the cozy nook gets the most use from her cat but she’s also not willing to part with the well-loved piece either.
The Scalloped Umbrella
This sturdy, tilt-able canopy provides ample shade on her pool deck and it’s a mere $209.
