There were two themes that I continued to see during Copenhagen’s annual design festival back in June: reissues of classic designs with fresh updates and modularity. Both are present in Danish design darling Hay’s latest furniture release, the Amanta Collection. The ’60s-era Mario Bellini seating pushes against melty softness without abandoning curves, yet it has more structure than its 1970 descendent, the viral Camaleonda. All in all, I was in love the moment I saw it, and it just made its debut on this side of the Atlantic.
Amanta Collection by Mario Bellini

The Amanta can be configured with 17 different fabrics (the Maharam Icebound is funky but the seductive dark green leather is my personal favorite) and the 99-percent post-consumer recycled ABS shell is available in five hues like cream beige, frost blue, and burgundy. The squat, spherical legs add just the right amount of whimsy without taking away from its edge, and the two- or three-seat couch configuration with no arms makes the piece versatile enough for small spaces. Its modular body can be disassembled, rearranged, and even repaired; useful for keeping it around longer. There’s a chair option, too, for those in the market for a one-seater or who want to build on it over time.
Meanwhile I’ll be waiting with baited breath for the U.S. launch of the Ana Kraš’ Ava Lamp series (I’ve been coveting the sconce form for months). Ahead, get a look at the entire fall collection, including new pieces from Muller Van Severen, Emma Kohlmann, and Jonas Forsmann.
La Pittura Tableware by Emma Kohlmann

At Hay’s HQ in Copenhagen, there was an entire room dedicated to this new painterly tableware from American artist Emma Kohlmann. Kohlmann is known for her ethereal watercolors and organic, freeform renderings of humans and nature. (For me, her work brings to mind the brilliant animations of Fantastic Planet.) She applied those motifs to bowls, platters, jugs, and more for this collection. I’m partial to the Bluebells salad plate and the Olive Grove serving platter.
Perforated Cabinet by Muller Van Severen

Muller Van Severen continues its collaboration with the brand in this perforated, powder-coated steel cabinet. Available in three sizes and up to four colors, it offers a peekaboo moment for your book collection, serving dishes, or entryway essentials.
O2 Chair by Jonas Forsmann

The O2 chair is as minimal and modern as it gets. The tubular steel frame is fitted with shrink-wrapped fabric that molds to your posture, which mimics weightlessness. There’s a matching ottoman if you’d like to kick up your feet.
