I don’t yet have a mattress for guests to sleep on or a living room rug, but my new apartment is already feeling super cozy because of one key purchase I made from H&M Home: brown bouclé curtains. I had been keeping tabs on the brand’s drapery options for awhile now because, as a renter, window treatments are the last thing I want to splurge on. When I saw these extra-wide, nubby dark brown panels, I dropped all the breezy linen options I was looking at on Zara Home and Amazon and added two packs to my cart instantly.
While the rich, chocolate color felt very of-the-moment, the main draw for me were the dimensions. The window in my guest bedroom where I planned to hang these curtains is 94 inches high and 86 inches wide. Following the tried-and-true rule that your drapes should be mounted four to six inches above the window frame and still kiss the floor, these were perfect.

While I thought they looked luxe on the site, I was even more impressed when they showed up. The bouclé fabric (made from 100 percent recycled polyester) is super soft and heavy. I was also pleased with the subtle level of texture and that a little bit of sunlight can still filter through the panels during the day.
The only thing that gave me any sort of pause? The price. A single pack typically retails for $119, so after shipping my purchase rang in around $220.
A bigger win for my budget was buying Twopages’s $70 Jaylon Curtain Rod in the long size; it spans up to 140 inches. I opted for the adjustable hardware in brass to add another layer of warmth to our guest space, which is turning out to be so inviting, I might end up switching bedrooms altogether.
