We’ll let you in on a little secret: There wasn’t a Kids category in the 2026 Domino Good Design Awards when submissions opened. But as we sifted through entries, we kept coming across impressive kid-centric contenders and we simply couldn’t keep these five products to ourselves. They’re playful but practical, parent-approved, easy on eyes of all ages, and deserve to be recognized! Allow us to introduce our first-ever Kids winners.
Best Baby Play Gym: The Play Gym II by Lalo
A play gym is a life-saving tool for keeping a baby occupied—until it’s not. Once your little one starts sitting up, all that mat will be doing is collecting dust. That is, unless it’s Lalo’s latest Play Gym II. Alongside the classic interactive mat and hanging toys—in a very inoffensive pastel palette, we must add—you receive a “Sit Up and Play Panel” that stretches across the wood frame. Covered in interactive elements like mirrors and a black-and-white card slot, it’s basically catnip for six-month-olds. And when it is finally time to retire it? Everything folds up neatly.
Best Toddler Bed: The Bloom Bed by Nestig
Nothing compares to baby sleep anxiety, but the toddlerhood transition from crib to bed is a close second. Suddenly, your kid has free reign of their room at night?! Gulp. Not only is Nestig’s Bloom bed low to the ground—a must for roly-poly kiddos—it has zero hard edges to bonk a head or elbow against. The entire thing is made of foam and topped with a washable fabric cover, so setup is as simple as unrolling it. Bonus: the official end of middle-of-the-night parental toe-stubbing.
Best Big Kid Bed: Moab Stair Loft Bed by Babyletto
Babyletto’s answer to the famously precarious bunk bed ladder, the Moab gives you the same space-saving benefits of a lofted design but with a safer path to sweet dreams: a mini set of stairs. Add the minimalist wood-paneled exterior and arched cutout, and it easily passes as custom furniture. The nook underneath the twin bed comes with a built-in desk, shelves, and storage drawers with room for another mattress if you wish. Or keep the area as open play space—you do you.
Best Decor: SuperStar Crash Pad by Jellybean
There are toys for getting out energy and toys to encourage quiet time, but rare are the toys that do both. The SuperStar Crash Pad by Australian brand Jellybean is one of those exceptions, despite the fact that it’s technically decor. For the jumpers and gymnasts, the giant, recycled foam floor pillow (the small is 36 inches across; the medium is 50) is the ultimate soft landing. For the readers and relaxers, it’s plenty big enough to curl up and chill. But this being Domino, what really sold us was the juicy range of colorful stripes and picnic prints.
Best Smart Light: Hatch Baby by Hatch
The second generation Hatch Rest, with its customizable sound machine and rainbow of calming lighting options, was a nursery mainstay for many. But it wasn’t without its quirks—mainly a finicky touch ring and a digital clock that could be distractingly bright. Those are nowhere to be found on the completely redesigned Hatch Baby (yes, even the name is new!). There’s a satisfyingly oversized button for easier control, a dimmable clock, and personalized sleep support on the app. Now available in a variety of pastels, plus a particularly chic beechwood version, the packaging is as special as what’s inside.
