When chef Daniel Humm, the culinary mind behind Eleven Madison Park (aka one of the most famous restaurants in the world) began the process of designing a collection with Crate & Barrel, he looked first to his home turf for inspiration.
“The green marble echoes the façade of Eleven Madison Park,” Humm says, noting that the restaurant’s iconic Art Deco entrance was a jumping off point for the Geneve line of accessories. “It felt right to bring pieces of my home to others. The color and texture is layered and rich, but not busy or gaudy.”
The luxe material is the cherry on top of more than 30 styles that spans kitchenware, dishes, glasses, furniture, and decor. Sebastian Brauer, Senior Vice President of Product Design at Crate & Barrel, notes that they wanted each piece to be more than an every day tool. “We were intentional about designing objects that are as sculptural as they are functional,” he says, calling out the Geneve mortar and pestle or salt cellar. Below, our favorites from the group, including sure-to-sell-out pepper mills and a showstopping storage cabinet.

Geneve Recycled Stainless Steel Cruet Set
This handsome stainless steel cruet set—practical and timeless, like chef Humm prefers—makes the case for having two different cooking oils at hand. Fill one with your sautéing workhorse and the other with one more appropriate for salad dressings and bread dipping. Bundle all of that together and you have a great gift, too.
Basel Recycled Stoneware Bowl
The warmth and weight of stoneware led Humm to use it over porcelain in his Crate and Barrel collection. “These pieces are meant to feel natural and versatile, elegant enough for a dinner party, but also perfect for everyday use,” Humm says, adding that he didn’t want them to compete with the food. “Everything is designed to let the ingredients shine.” The wide rims are easy to carry and frame a meal like a picture. Not to mention, they stack easy.
Pocket Tall Blown Glass Vase
Humm’s Swiss heritage has influenced him in every creative aspect of his life, especially when it comes to precision and timelessness. “I gravitate towards thoughtful designs that incorporate clean lines and beautiful materials,” he shares. The tall, lithe silhouette of the blown-glass Pocket Vase welcomes a bouquet of tulips with no need to clip the bottoms, and a gently curved edge allows them to rest naturally.
Geneve Salt Cellar
This straightforward salt cellar might be our favorite item of the group. Made entirely of green marble, its rounded top adds just a hint of interest. The whole package prioritizes precision and restraint in form, two tenets that guided chef Humm in the development of his line.
Zurich Kombu Green Storage Cabinet
Of all the furniture, we were immediately smitten with the Zurich storage cabinet. It’s a real wow moment, presenting together walnut, green lacquer, and brass finishes, all of which can be found around the Eleven Madison Park dining room. The drawers have built-in dividers perfect for storing cutlery or linens and the rounded edges offer more display space for glassware or ceramics.
Geneve Salt and Pepper Mills
The playful green-and-white striped salt and pepper mills will look just as good on the table as they will next to the stove.
Montreux Wine and Champagne Glasses
“When it comes to wine glasses, clarity and balance are key,” Humm says. “How they feel in your hand is just as important as how they present the wine.” The Montreux Wine and Champagne glasses are handblown by a team of nine expert glassmakers in Portugal, which all but guarantees a stem that is a delight to hold and a thin edge that makes the bowl satisfying to sip from.
