Markers/colored pencils/crayons.

Not every project and assignment is online. True story.

Surge protectors.

A must for adding extra (and necessary) outlets, and can even prevent damage to valuable materials like that brand-new laptop.

Robe.

Trust us, they’ll be thanking you for stuffing this in the suitcase on their walks down the long halls to the communal bathrooms.

Carpet.

Not only are carpets functional, they can also add a pop of color in a shared space.

Sewing Kit.

Buttons do fall off and need to be fixed fast.

Vacuum.

Accidents happen and some roommates are cleaner than others.

Clorox wipes.

Cleaning can be a burden, but cleaning wipes make it quick and easy to keep a clean room.

First aid kit.

Being prepared never hurt a soul.

Emergen-C.

For those times that everyone on the floor is sick, power up.

Sleeping mask.

Since everyone is on very different schedules, sneak in that shuteye with whatever it requires.

Quarters/change.

Not all machines use cards. Quarters will come in handy for late-night snack machine raids.

Earplugs/noise-cancelling headphones.

Because you never know how loud the next door neighbor will want to blast the music. At 2 a.m.

Toolbox.

Minor tweaks can be taken care of with the right tools.
