The Citizenry’s and West Elm’s new holiday collections are made up of the perfect non-decorations. With subtle color palettes and a mix-and-match approach, the pieces can live a very full life outside of a storage container for the other 11 months of the year.
Featuring muted earth tones (think: olive green and navy blue), the seasonal launch from The Citizenry is wintertime for minimalists. A wood modular menorah can be used as individual candlestick holders every other day; gilded geometric ornaments make great wall hangings off the tree; and even the indigo tree skirt is neutral enough to not scream “Christmas” despite its purpose. Maybe wrap it around your fiddle-leaf fig when it’s time for the tree to come down? The collection has us wishing that stockings (the brand’s are quilted in on-trend red patchwork patterns) were more multifunctional.
Heather Taylor Home’s fall-winter drop for West Elm offers the same versatility. Her signature gingham throw pillows, this time in beige and hunter green, will keep your sofa cozy 24-7. And the red-and-cream–plaid table linens, while perfect for a festive tablescape, can still jazz up a normal lunch in February. We’ve already added the checked quilt to our carts.
