These days, it’s easy to jet off with luggage as chic as your wardrobe, but it’ll cost you. Most trendy brands will set you back at least $250—and just for a carry-on, no less. That’s where Target comes in: The retailer just launched a whole new line dedicated exclusively to travel named Open Story. Though the 40-piece collection is every bit as colorful and chic as its higher-end counterparts, the items come at a fraction of the cost.

Open Story’s products range from $20 to $180 and include packing cubes, cosmetic cases, and weekender bags. Basically, there’s everything you could ever need for your first 2020 trip. Plus, despite the budget-friendly price tag, the suitcases boast all the features you’ve come to expect: USB charging ports, laundry pouches, and built-in TSA locks. Simply want a few handy accessories? The passport wallet is a frequent traveler’s best friend.

The only thing Open Story won’t do is pack your bags for you—so we thought we’d take over with some of our go-to tips:

Compartmentalize Everything

Hawaiian Airlines flight attendant Theona Kapoi swears by Ziploc bags for keeping all her odds and ends safely corralled in one place. “They protect your belongings in case your luggage gets rained on,” she points out. For an eco-friendly alternative, we love Stasher silicone pouches (they come in the peppiest colorways).

Map It Out

This goes for your packing and destination bucket lists. Former Barneys New York design director Erica Choi likes to input everything into a Google Doc before tackling her carry-on. “It’s where I plan out my outfits so I don’t overpack,” she explains.

Fold, Roll, Repeat

Everyone has a favorite folding method, but travel photographer Victor Cheng’s is the ultimate space saver. “This is a trick I do when I only pack a carry-on, so I don’t have to wait for my luggage to come out of the belt,” he says. Envelope-fold your shirts, roll them up like burritos, then pack them vertically so they’re squished together. The more room for souvenirs, the better.
