Congratulations are in order for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex! Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have officially welcomed their first child together—and it’s a boy! Unlike Prince William and Kate Middleton, who publicly shared the arrival of all three of their children outside the steps of St. Mary’s Hospital in London, the Duke and Duchess chose to celebrate as a new family before sharing the news with the world today on their Instagram account.

“We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019,” the palace wrote in the post. “The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives.”

The Duke and Duchess will be adjusting to their new roles as parents at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. The countryside residence carries special significance for the pair, as it was also the location of their engagement shoot and the venue for their wedding afterparty. The couple wrapped renovations on the house just a few short weeks ago (talk about perfect timing). In addition to a yoga studio, chef’s kitchen, and bespoke wardrobe, royal reporter Katie Nicholl hinted that the remodel would account for a sustainable nursery, complete with vegan paint in neutral hues.

While we may never get a peek inside baby Sussex’s bedroom, we have a strong hunch that Meghan and Harry brought their unique styles to the table. Likely drawing on her California roots, we’re guessing Meghan voted for laid-back ease with modern wood finishes, warm wicker accents, and plush, textured furnishings. Harry’s English upbringing, on the other hand, is an excuse to sophisticate the space with traditional silhouettes and stripes. Alex Eagle’s light-filled London nursery emulates the chic ambiance and quintessential British charm we’re guessing baby Sussex is enjoying as we speak.

Here are five sweet essentials we’d hope to find in their new little one’s nursery.

Organic Prints

Why stop at vegan paint? Little Sussex can enjoy sweet dreams of going green and frolicking through the vegetable garden on a bed of marine blue parsnips.

Traveled Mementos

Meghan might be Harry’s one true love, but Africa holds a special place in the prince’s heart. Subtle nods to the safari will instill the same sense of adventure in their little one.

Classic Lighting

A modern update of a traditional fixture will effortlessly marry the couple’s different aesthetics and act as a cohesive anchor for the room.

Black Wood Accents

Ole Flensted’s breezy mobile is a fitting accessory for a family on cloud nine.

A Sustainably Made Crib

Crafted from sustainably grown beechwood, this convertible crib is designed to outlast ordinary nursery furniture. Its minty green hue adds a retro touch.
