ONE This versatile piece can work in a number of ways, though we would recommend it on top of a desk. For just a laptop, opt for the larger shelf insert, or go for both if using a bluetooth keyboard.

STEPS Before assembling the VARIERA shelf, wrap the shelf insert with the painter’s tape in a design of your choice. We opted for a color block .

Spray paint the shelf inserts along with the provided screws in a well-ventilated area and set to dry.Assemble the shelves according to the directions.

Set the smaller of the two shelves on top of the larger piece, and affix to create two layers.

TWO IKEA’s outdoor shelf doubles as a chic, indoor standing desk. Featuring chrome-painted brackets, this wall-mounted piece can also serve as a shelf when off-duty.

STEPS Paint the shelf in a color of your choice, or leave it bare! Spray paint the brackets and set to dry.

Measure out the length of the shelf and note where it will be fastened on the wall. Attach the brackets to the wall before screwing the shelf onto the brackets.

STEPS Spray paint the flanges and screws in a well-ventilated area and set to dry.

Once dried, measure out the space where the shelf will sit and mark the spots where the flanges will be screwed in. Fasten the flanges with the screws, into the wall.

Screw the male adapters into the flanges, and insert the copper pipes into the adapters. Top the ends of the pipes with the elbows to complete the look!
