Moj Mahdara

knows how stay connected while on the go. The Beautycon Media CEO and Founder is based in LA but is constantly traveling for work. Beautycon hosts beauty conventions around the world, puts out monthly subscription boxes, and publishes digital content—all while promoting the motto that inner and outer beauty go hand in hand. Mahdara stays on top of social media because it’s crucial to her everyday success, but she also knows how to unplug. Below, she explains how she does it all.

What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

As soon as I wake up, I check social media: Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter. It’s where all the news is at.

What are your favorite things to do for yourself on the weekends?

Get outside and get some fresh air. Exercise and have some personal time. I love vintage watches so I will travel all around LA to obscure stores to find really cool authentic pieces. I also love to find fun wearable technology. I recently got a gadget that buzzes me on my arm if I am slouching so that I remember to always sit straight up. They say it is supposed to help with posture!

How do you deal when you’re away for the weekend?

I am constantly on my phone, checking emails, texts, and social media to make sure I am staying on top of everything. It never stops so I can’t.

What are the activities or errands on your “must-accomplish list” every weekend?

Spend time with my partner, Roya, and our dog, Sufi. If I am not at Orange Theory, I will take a long walk or hike. I really just try to have some time for myself and clear my head. I have to spend some time catching up on my reading list, and of course there is the binge watching of documentaries—all kinds, all genres, and for hours.

What do you do on Sundays to prepare for the week ahead?

I go through my “dashboard,” which is where each department at Beautycon Media summarizes things that need my attention. They break them down into: Hot Spots, Open & Closed items. This way I can work to stay ahead of what is going on and jump into my week.
