Our days are punctuated by scouting new talent, attending market appointments, and scrolling Instagram in an effort to unearth the products, people, and news you actually need to know. Here’s what we Slacked one another about this week.
Hot Stuff: Soup Shop
While making soup is one of my greatest passions, the idea of picking up already-made bisques and broths is pretty compelling. Enter: Soup Shop. The new pop-up—which is collaborating with some of the best chefs in the area—will be offering soup (and sourdough!) pickup throughout Brooklyn and Queens. The menu changes each week, and you order on Monday, then pick up on Thursday at your nearest participating wine shop (and, let’s be honest, you were probably headed there anyway). —Julia Stevens, associate style editor
Fresh Florals: Utopia Goods
In response to the seemingly never-ending sea of warm terracotta out in the market, I find that earthy chocolate browns and latte beiges somehow feel fresh, especially when paired with a bold Yves Klein Blue, as in this new hibiscus print from Utopia Goods. The patterns from this Australian textile studio are rooted in native flora species, hand-drawn, and screen printed. I’d love to see this overscale heavyweight linen swathed over a modern Vladimir Kagan sofa in a light-filled city loft. For those who may want to tiptoe into a statement pattern, ready-made decorative cushions and table linens are also available. —Benjamin Reynaert, style director
Chic Soak: Taylor + Taylor’s Plaster Tub
I wish the cheap, white, plastic-y tub-shower in my rental apartment looked something more like this Taylor + Taylor revamp: coated in (pink!) plaster. Bubble baths accompanied by wine and Bridgerton would be a nightly routine. —Lydia Geisel, associate editor
Closet Crush: Marimekko
Marimekko has been a staple in cool wardrobes for as long as I can remember, but the graphic designer in me freaked out even more when I learned a fave studio of mine, TSTO, helped refresh the brand. Marimekko also decided to celebrate its 70th anniversary by collaborating with other designers for multiple capsule collections, the first of which has already dropped. The Pikkuakseli Shirt is the button-down of my dreams, and I fantasize about pairing it with gray sweats, Nikes, and a cap when running errands so I can appear effortlessly chic. —Madeline Montoya, junior designer
Great Escape: Lake House
I’m always looking for spots to escape to during this work-from-anywhere moment, and this 124-room hotel in the Finger Lakes makes you feel like you traveled so much further than just a few hours outside of New York City. You can cozy up in front of one of the multiple fireplaces, drink something warm, stare up at the wavy bedposts, and get it all done at the same time. —Ali Alquiza, podcast producer
