Far away from Graceland, Elvis Presley once whisked his blushing bride Priscilla up the steps of this mid-century modern masterpiece. Here, after a secret Las Vegas wedding, the two would enjoy their honeymoon in secluded serenity. Now, according to Curbed, the famous home could be yours: Elvis’s stunning Palm Springs home is officially on the market for $5.9 million.
Much like Elvis himself, the Alexander Estate in Palm Springs made quite a name for itself in the swinging 60s. Designed by prolific architect William Krisel, the home was said to be the center of Palm Springs social activity at the time—even scoring the centerfold feature in a 1962 edition of Look Magazine as “The House of Tomorrow.”
A one-of-a-kind floor plan that features four circular living spaces stacked on multiple levels give the Space Age exterior an eye-catching look. Inside the distinctly-shaped walls lies 5,000 square feet of living space, comprised of five bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Mary Kay Nibley, the iconic property’s listing agent, tells Domino that the unique home reflects an Americana spirit.
“I think a buyer will appreciate all that comes with the property,” she says. “They’ll either love the history, the architecture, and the story that comes with it and keep it as is, or bring it up to today’s standards and update it.”
The home has currently been carefully restored to its original 1960s splendor. The art deco design on the interior boasts walls of stone and glass, including custom furniture specially-designed to fit the circular structure. The spacious living room transports you through time as it opens up to a dining space. Peek close enough and you may even see Elvis himself.
The master honeymoon suite is complete with impressive panoramic views of the surrounding San Jacinto Mountains and Coachella Valley. Large curtains break up the flood of natural light.
More light fills a white kitchen with a circular range as the focal point.
Elsewhere, a textured stonework wall perfectly reflects southern California’s signature modernist approach to indoor-outdoor living. Floor-to-ceiling windows make even the most angular spaces of this home feel spacious and inviting.
“The private, bright property at the end of a cul-de-sac is fantastic for entertaining,” says Nibley—and we have to agree that between the stunning pool, adjacent lounge area, and nearby tennis court, this backyard looks like the perfect spot to host guests.
