The Sleeper Hit of Sarah Sherman Samuel’s Fall Lulu and Georgia Drop

It's functional art, according to the designer.

Sarah Sherman Samuel’s eighth collaboration with Lulu and Georgia just dropped, and if you assume the designer is just replaying her greatest hits at this point, think again. Every single piece of furniture in the fall 2025 collection started in her sketchbook. She even hopped on the pottery wheel in her own studio to make the originals for the ceramics. And when it came to creating patterns like the Garden Walk Botanical fabric, she first picked up a pen and watercolor paper, drew bits of a willow tree that reminded her of the one in her grandma’s yard growing up, sent it off to be colored digitally, and went through rounds of samples. In the end, “It turned out exactly as I imagined,” says Samuel.

The assortment, dubbed the Reverie collection, is void of expected nods to autumn (no burnt orange, tasseled throw pillows here), but instead filled with sweet surprises like a metal candlestick shaped like a ribbon, a flush mount light with ruffled fabric edges, and a hand-loomed rug in a deep shade of olive. We asked Samuel to spotlight just a few of her favorites, because to say she was hands on in the design process would be an understatement.

In Michigan, the shift in seasons is nothing short of dramatic. A deeper-hued rug or patterned bedding can instantly transform a room, infusing it with new character for the months ahead. And when the trees outside grow bare, bringing the outdoors in, through nature-inspired motifs and texture, can help bridge the gap, keeping the spirit of the landscape alive indoors.

Rivas Foot Stool

I’m always collecting vintage stools for styling and sourcing them for clients so it was time to make one of my own. The Rivas foot stool is perfect as a sculptural accent in any room, but it’s also functional when you need a step up in a kitchen or room with bookcases to reach higher shelves.

I love pieces that have texture, pattern, and dimension. The items with cut-outs or open work are a play on voids that have all three of those elements. They feel more sculptural and alive in a space.

My Secret to Pulling Off a Scalloped Sofa

Bernadette Sofa

The Bernadette is a fully upholstered, tailored sofa with clean lines so I’d pair it with a chair that is more leggy, mixed with some wood and a coffee table that introduces another material like stone. If you pick a solid fabric on the sofa, I’d do a patterned rug or if you pick the stripe on the Bernadette( which I love in this silhouette) I’d go with a solid rug.

A few pieces I’ve already got for my own home are the Helmi pendant, the Reika pedestal, the Boedie chairs, the Narsi coverlet (it’s embroidered and so wonderful), the Nelio and Village rug, the Ionic daybed, the Kanto side table, and the Hamilton sideboard. I also live with the original Pari vase that I made in the pottery studio and am thrilled to be able to include a production version in the collection.
