Declan Ee, co-founder of furniture brand Castlery, has been dreaming about designing a reclining sofa for more than two years. If you visited his house, you’d understand exactly why he wants to take his relaxation to a new level. “I have three boys that are homeschooled, so it’s something I’ve wanted for the longest time,” says Ee. The problem was that he still wanted it to look like a stylish couch when no one was stretching out.

So, the Castlery team obsessed over the smallest details, like the level of puffiness (30 percent feather filling was the sweet spot), isolating the headrest mechanism from the legs for maximum comfort, and making the whole thing modular. “And because my kids are all under the age of 10, we engineered the fabric to be performance,” says Ee. Enter, the Jaron sofa.

At first glance, the piece looks like a typical, cloud-like couch. That’s because there are no major gaps that give away its reclining capabilities, plus the controls are hidden deep on the sides of the cushions. The configurations are seemingly endless: you can go as simple as a single armchair to a giant U-shaped sectional. Right now, the Jaron comes in a creamy white polyester upholstery and a cocoa-hued leather, with the performance fabric armchair ringing in as the most affordable option at $1,799.

This isn’t the only clever movie night find to join Castlery’s assortment this spring. The brand also just launched the Solari Sofa, a modular design that looks straight out of the 1970s, along with a leather version of the popular Fable Sofa and a slew of new Seb tables, two of which offer lift-top storage for stashing cozy throw blankets.
