Pottery Barn has a way of consistently reinventing itself. The brand’s designer collabs are always inspiring—see Justina Blakeney, Anna Sui, and Monique Lhuillier for proof. But, for the past year, the retail giant has focused on an entirely new population segment. Pottery Barn’s spin-off brand, PB Apartment, is aimed directly at small-space dwellers.
With the average apartment size in the US being only 900 square feet, PB Apartment provides products designed with both style and function in mind, specifically for those living in tiny spaces (ahem, team Domino in New York). Pottery Barn first dipped their toes into the micro-living world in 2017 with a limited collection before launching a dedicated brand in 2018 following the line’s sweeping success.
While having great products that don’t take up too much space is the perfect starting point, figuring out how to style and organize those pieces can be pretty tough. That’s why PB Apartment is a great resource for helpful small-space tips and style ideas, whether through the brand’s square footage–based room design guides or customer service representatives, dubbed the “Design Crew,” who offer free consultation services.
Looking to spiff up your own small space? We handpicked our favorite PB Apartment finds and imagined the ideal use for each.
If your friend group doesn’t fit on your sofa…
This folding leather stool can easily tuck under a console table or fold away in a closet if you need the extra square footage, but it also looks great when folded out in the living room.
If you need an extra-skinny side table…
Need just enough space to put down a drink and a book? This iron end table is only eight inches wide, so it’ll discreetly slide into just about any corner.
If your friends often crash on your couch…
This versatile upholstered daybed is half-sofa, half-guest bed. Simply use a seat cover when using it as a sofa and easily turn it into a bed at night without having to rearrange your entire living room floor plan.
If you always forget to charge your phone at night…
This mid-century-inspired lamp plays double-duty on a nightstand: Its base will also charge your phone if you place it on top. No need for bulky charging stations—with this light, you’ll always be fully charged.
If your dining table only fits against a wall…
Save space by replacing a few chairs around your dining table with a long woven bench that can be pushed against the wall. You’ll easily save a couple of feet of space for the rest of your open-plan living area.
If you only have space for a floor lamp or a side table…
You don’t have to choose between a table and a lamp with this two-in-one piece, which provides both a space to put down your book while also lighting up a corner of your room. Consider this the ultimate reading nook must-have.
If you’re looking for the perfect all-purpose stool…
Move this furry companion around as your needs change. Use it as extra seating for guests or as a seat for your bedroom vanity.
If you don’t have space for a dining table…
Opt for a bistro table instead. This lovely marble space is perfect for two and can be tucked into virtually any sunny corner. Bonus: You’ll feel as though you’re in Paris every time you sit down.
If your floor space is precious real estate…
Consider floating your nightstand instead. With this wall-mounted piece, you can have all the surface room for all your bedside needs while still leaving the floor clear for a small stool, basket, or bed for your furry friend.
If your storage must play double-duty…
This clever bar cart also serves as a magazine rack so you can fit all your essentials for a cocktail party or a quiet night in into one small furniture piece.
