The hottest new spot in Paris is basically the South of France. Well, actually, the just-opened Café Citron is in the new Galeries Lafayette on the Champs-Elysées, but between the massive terra-cotta pots, the lemon trees, and the rustic wooden accents, you’d be forgiven for thinking you had stepped into a chic southern boutique. Café Citron is a collaboration between storied Parisian restaurant Caviar Kaspia and fashion designer Simon Porte Jacquemus. Given Jacquemus’s cemented status as fashion It girls’ favorite designer, it’s safe to say this spot will quickly hold a similar position in Parisian cafe culture. Prepare to see every inch of this stylish spot splashed on your Instagram feed this spring.

Inspired by Jacquemus’s well-documented love for the Riviera, the cafe has all the trappings of southern France. Aside from the steady stream of light filtering in through massive floor-to-ceiling windows, the space is also notable for its saturation of natural, rustic materials. Square, wooden bistro tables with different-colored inlaid tiles are flanked by an array of mismatched, vintage-looking chairs. We spy more than a few of the ever-popular cane chairs—another sign that Café Citron is primed to go viral.

And of course, given the name, the cafe is full of lemon references. From massive citrus trees to crates full of lemons and centerpieces featuring scattered pieces of fruit, the lemon motif is alive and well.
Even the cafe’s signature dessert features citrus notes. Created by chef Cedric Grolet, it’s a hand-painted “lemon” that, when cracked open, reveals a lemon curd filling. Jacquemus posted a video teasing this sugary treat, and it’s mesmerizing.
