Recently, Instagram did a bit of inward-facing inventory, compiling a 2016 year-end data report, which People unveiled yesterday.

Girls do indeed run the Insta-world. The most-followed celebrities on Instagram were as follows: Selena Gomez (103 million followers) Taylor Swift (93.6 million followers) Ariana Grande (89.6 million followers) Beyoncé (88.9 million followers) Kim Kardashian (87.8 million followers)

The most-instagrammed locations in the world included Disney and Universal Parks, Central Park, Times Square, the Eiffel Tower, and the Louvre. The top five days of Instagram activity were Halloween, the 15th anniversary of 9/11, the Euro Cup final, US Election Day, and August 14, 2016 (when Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, and Simone Biles celebrated big Olympic medal wins).

They also ranked their top-used filters, with Clarendon, Gingham, Juno, Lark, and Moon rounding out the top five.
