On a recent quick, 24-hour trip to Hudson, New York, it became abundantly clear: This small town is a certified housewares destination. Just two hours from New York City’s Penn Station, the upstate spot has loads of vintage furniture but also new wares from Domino-approved brands like Dusen Dusen.
One of the best things about Hudson is that most everything you’d want to do is on one main road: Warren Street. If you start from one end and walk to the other—but first fuel up with an egg and cheese sandwich at Kitty’s—you really can’t go wrong. So consider this your guide to the home stores you won’t want to miss, in order from the train stop to the end of the strip.
Quick note: Most of the shops and restaurants are closed on Monday, but here’s where we recommend shopping every other day of the week.
Antique Warehouse
The vibe: Your eccentric grandpa’s garage, but 50 times the size.
On the shelves: Old traffic signs, painted wood toolboxes, blue glass seltzer bottles, apothecary chests, and rattan patio furniture.
What we bought: While the furniture is the main attraction, I walked out of the warehouse with a perfectly distressed $50 leather jacket.
LikeMinded Objects
The vibe: Cheeky millennial wonderland.
On the shelves: Powder-coated metal taper holders, face-shaped side tables, pleated lampshades, and handmade button-downs made from repurposed vintage shirts.
What we bought: A floating plant shelf that could double as an itty-bitty nightstand.
Minna
The vibe: Global market finds with a touch of Brooklyn, in a pastel palette.
On the shelves: Oaxacan terracotta ceramics, two-tone taper candles, and color-blocked rugs and nubby throw pillows from Minna’s in-house brand.
What we bought: A graphic lidded basket from Oaxaca.
Finch
The vibe: A curated mix of modern and vintage furniture—perfect for anyone on the hunt for high-quality, large-staple pieces.
On the shelves: Possibly the most beautiful dining chairs I’ve ever seen, worn-in leather sofas, and collected vintage objects to spruce up a bookshelf.
What we bought: An exquisite Eric Bonnin bowl. But I won’t be surprised if I leave with a lounge chair next time.
Les Indiennes
The vibe: An Indian block-print emporium in a pared-down, whitewashed space.
On the shelves: Throw pillows, duvet covers, table linens, shower curtains, and more.
What we bought: Pillowcase sets from the extensive seconds sale table—a discounted selection only available in-store.
Beam
The vibe: Modern playful furniture and accessories, with no shortage of color.
On the shelves: Curvy upholstered seating, globe lamps, and throw pillows for days.
What we bought: The happiest grinders by Dusen Dusen.
Theron Ware
The vibe: Eighteenth-century opulent meets mid-century modern treasure hunt.
On the shelves: Stacks of art books, antique carved gilt mirrors, and an original Noguchi table.
What we bought: A vintage design book on Windsor chairs.
Red Chair
The vibe: Farmhouse with a touch of cottagecore.
On the shelves: Porcelain pottery, vintage mismatched silverware, and French bread boards pretty enough to hang on the wall.
