Home should be your happy place—now more than ever. Head to the #MakeYourselfAtHome hub to find tiny projects, feel-good recipes, and clever decorating ideas to make each day a little bit brighter.

The era of #Knitflix and chill just got a ringing endorsement. Amanda Seyfried is keeping busy at home by continuing her mini embroidery projects. Her latest endeavor? Dozens of Technicolor “self-isolation squares.” She shared a peek at her progress on Instagram, the culmination of about four weeks’ worth of careful stitching and color pairing.

We’re all looking for a calming activity right now, whether that’s baking bread or rearranging vignettes around the house. For the more artistically inclined, Seyfried’s granny squares are a perfect option for beginners—think of it as a gateway to quilts and scarves. Once you get a hang of the technique (here’s a helpful YouTube tutorial), the repetition is incredibly soothing. Make a couple to use up scrap yarn, or order a few balls online and see how many you can churn out.

If you’re feeling ambitious, you can eventually string each little cube together to fashion a picnic blanket for backyard dining. Alternatively, follow Seyfried’s lead and keep them separate: Hang them up as tiny pieces of textile wall art or use them as cloth coasters. Crochet, but make it custom.
