As we looked back at the most popular Domino home tours from the past 12 months, we couldn’t help but notice a theme. Paint colors that soothe the soul, silky soft sofas, moody bedrooms, serene white bathrooms—we craved moments of calm. And can you blame us? From pro renovator Leanne Ford’s SoCal fixer-upper to Brooklyn-based designer Delia Brennan’s artful brownstone, we (virtually) stepped inside so many spaces that brought us much-needed zen. So before we look forward to the homes of 2021, we’re revisiting the top five spaces that sparked joy last year.

Ayesha Curry’s Contemporary Oasis

Our Fall issue cover star decorated her Bay Area home mostly from scratch, but the sculptural coconut pods in the corner of her dining room are one of the few things she and her husband, Stephen Curry, have kept from move to move.

A Fresh Take on Plywood

Zippora Seven and Terence Connors took humble plywood to the next level in their Montauk, New York, cottage by devising a checkerboard scheme for the living room’s main wall, using a combination of light birch and dark mahogany.

Leanne Ford’s Quarantine Cabin

Before moving back to her hometown of Pittsburgh, the seasoned DIYer spruced up the Pacific Palisades home she and her husband had purchased just before the pandemic hit. One small cosmetic upgrade included covering the bathroom walls in SureCrete, a waterproof, cement-based overlay, which gave the space Mediterranean vibes.

A Storage-Friendly Kitchen

Catherine and VW Fowlkessage green kitchen cabinets are super on-trend, but they’re also extremely functional. The couple scrapped traditional island barstool seating and opted for additional drawers for school supplies and cookbooks instead.

A Designer’s Artful Brownstone

To balance out her dark bedroom walls, designer Delia Brennan brought in airy wood, buttery leather, and almond-toned mohair. It’s enough to send you into full hibernation mode.
