Every industry has its version of the Academy Awards, and for faucets, toilets, tile, and other key fixtures in our home, that equivalent is the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS). There were 475 vendors in attendance at the Las Vegas event this year, all gathered to display their latest, greatest, most innovative products in hopes of earning bragging rights as Best in Show. This year’s Viola Davis of the bunch? A sink you can’t even see. Bocchi’s Baveno Hide-Away system took home the winning title, and when you look a little closer, it’s easy to understand why.

The Baveno line was created to solve a problem almost all of us have had at some point: the need for more counter space. It’s not exactly practical to have a kitchen without a sink, but the Italian brand proves you don’t need one all the time. Installed either as an under-mount or drop-in, you can completely conceal the entire thing with the addition of the telescopic Move faucet and cutting-board covers. It’s a game changer for small spaces, laundry sinks, wet bars, and island surfaces that could use more room for prep work.

While the sink is designed to be concealed, when it’s left uncovered, the system stands out thanks to thoughtful European-inspired touches. From Italian granite to heat-resistant fireclay, there are 12 basin styles to choose from, plus five faucet finishes (which also earned a gold medal). The line includes a variety of add-ons like prep boards with knife slots, colanders, and a rolling mat. When you’re done chopping, washing, or drying, simply slide on the wood covers and show off everything but the kitchen sink.
