Paris, New York, London, Capri. These popular locales aren’t going to see a decrease in tourists anytime soon. But if you’re looking to jet off somewhere a bit more undiscovered in the new year, look no further than Airbnb. The site scoured its bookings data to find the locations that have seen the biggest growth in reservations compared to 2019, and 2020’s trending destinations are safely off the beaten path—even the Domino team hadn’t heard of most of them. One thing’s for sure: You won’t have to worry about being whacked in the head with a selfie stick.

The list of 20 is comprised of both cities and countries, ranging from Milwaukee, Wisconsin (No. 1), to Malindi, Kenya (No. 19). Prospective travelers are spoiled for choice. So much so that it can be tricky to narrow down your pick to just one spot—here are the five currently on our radar:

Bilbao, Spain

Bilbao is slated to host the UEFA Euro tournament in 2020—but non–soccer fans will still enjoy their stay in the fast-paced northern city. Start with the architectural feat that is the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum.

Where to stay: Casco Viejo de Bilbao, $110/night

Guadalajara, Mexico

Between the tequila tastings (the liquor’s birthplace is a mere hour away from the heart of Guadalajara) and strolls through the historic center, visitors here have the best of all worlds.

Where to stay: Eclectic Studio Apartment, $52/night

Vanuatu

Soak up the sun (with plenty of SPF, of course) on this verdant island in the Pacific Ocean when the January blues start getting to you. Preferably with a cocktail in hand.

Where to stay: Aore Eco Retreat, $84/night

Ubatuba, Brazil

There are more than 100 beaches in this surfing capital, and the surrounding rain forest makes this a must-visit for nature lovers.

Where to stay: Rainforest Villa, $156/night

Maastricht, Netherlands

Spend your days weaving in and out of national heritage buildings in this Dutch city (there are more than 1,000 of them!), stroopwafel in hand.

Where to stay: Spacious House in St. Pieter, $138/night

Do your post–New Year’s self a favor and book that getaway trip right now.
