Rugs are a must-have when it comes to home decor: They can instantly add warmth and personality and style to a room, or they change the entire aesthetic, or they can tie together an otherwise disjointed space. Whether you layer antique and vintage textiles for a boho chic vibe, or choose to let a bold statement-making rug steal the show, the possibilities are endless. So, we took to some of our favorite designers to ask about the ins and outs of shopping for, thrifting, and spotting the best rugs on the market. For an added dose of color and character, shop these places for your next rug.

ABC Carpet & Home

Designer Lauren Rasken shops several locations to find the best rug selections and deals, though

is at the top of her list for its wide variety.

Anthropologie

Lindye Galloway loves the beautiful quality and selection she finds at a place like Anthropologie. For bohemian prints and luxe texture, this is a prime place to shop. We’re loving Anthro’s current selection of floral-inspired patterns.

Chairish

“I have my eye on several runners on Chairish at the moment,” Sarah Wittenbraker tells Domino. Though her favorite local shop is Black Sheep Unique. “They score the most amazing pieces and have taught me so much about the rug industry,” she says.

eBay

Natalie Myers of Veneer Designs always shops eBay for

vintage rugs

“I have had a lot of luck buying directly from vendors in Morocco, Turkey, and France, she says. “You cut out the showroom middleman and save on customs taxes if you imported them yourself.”

Etsy

Etsy is designer Becki Owens’s favorite place to browse for unique, vintage rugs. “You can find them for a great value. Don’t be afraid to bargain with the seller,” she advises. “You may get an incredible deal,” Susana Simonpietri of Chango & Co agrees. When she’s not selecting from the large assortment of rugs from her Brooklyn store, she also loves to shop for inexpensive but beautiful rugs on Etsy.
