This Year’s Met Gala Theme Is a Major Home Trend Too
All about camp.

Feathers. Leopard print. Cheeky, graphic type. For minimalists and lovers of sleek, modern style, these things are, by and large, a serious don’t. When it comes to camp, however, they’re pretty much essentials.
This year’s Met Gala theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” isn’t about canoes and embroidery-floss friendship bracelets. In this case, and according to good ol’ Merriam-Webster, the definition of camp is “a style or mode of personal or creative expression that is absurdly exaggerated and often fuses elements of high and popular culture.” Get your glue gun and your sequins ready: It’s time to be extra.
Let’s clear something up: Is camp about being tacky? Kind of! But it’s also about committing to your tackiness to such a degree that you unequivocally pull it off. Simply put, you have to go all in if you want it to work.
Camp, of course, isn’t limited to fashion. With so many vibrant, experimental animal prints, textures, and even full design movements (Memphis, anyone?), this style is easy—even tempting—to bring home. So why not make like the Met and get a little campy? These picks will help you do just that.
If you’re a little Old Hollywood
This floor lamp lends a space a taste of Hollywood Regency style, but let’s be real: It’s also super kitschy and 100 percent fabulous.
If you love a good trinket dish
Consider this a design that has legs. Really! This bowl is perfect for stashing candy and your keys.
If you’re all about Wes Anderson
The Inside’s fabric-covered room divider is very Margot Tenenbaum, no?
If you get by with plenty of sarcasm
Look directly to David Shrigley. This tea towel delivers just the right amount of attitude to your kitchen.
If you’re ready to really commit to the theme
Is there any room addition campier than Katie Kimmel’s poodle seat? Perhaps not. This, my friends, is a true achievement.
