Official Address

Last summer, while strolling down Hudson’s main drag, Nicholas Blaine and Paul Denoly stumbled upon the perfect brick-and-mortar location for their wholesale home furnishings and accessories company. “Our favorite old storefront had posted a For Rent sign,” Blaine explains. “The second we learned that its mosaic-tile entryway, stained-glass doorway, and high Victorian tin ceilings were available, we knew

Hawkins New York

had finally found its home.”

Shop Local

Known for its thriving flea market scene, Hudson has long been a shopping destination for savvy urbanites in surrounding metropolitan areas. But Blaine and Denoly were looking to do something different at Hawkins New York: “Warren Street is filled with antique stores,” Denoly says.

“We wanted to bring a more modern sensibility to town.”

Personal Supply

“Our rule is that anything that we’d buy for our own home can go in the shop, and anything that we wouldn’t doesn’t make the cut,” Blaine says of Hawkins New York’s carefully selected inventory—which includes traditionally made artisanal textiles, furniture, and artworks from craftsmen around the world. “We curate objects that are beautiful and functional and that reflect the hand of the maker.”

Historical Context

“We’re developing our own contemporary farmhouse aesthetic,” Blaine says. “Our sense of design comes from the Shakers, the colloquial Dutch style, our travels, and the great outdoors.”
