First Look: 4 Trends to Watch Out for in Target’s New Spring Collection

It’s tempting to spend a small fortune on airfare for a spring break escape, but it turns out that a simple home decor refresh might be just as fulfilling as a week-long vacation. Our favorite in-house Target brands—Opalhouse, Project 62, Threshold, and more—are releasing a ton of new items for spring, and we can already feel the warm breeze and sand in our hair.  

In true bohemian form, Opalhouse takes a maximalist turn for a transportive tropical getaway with emerald greens and jungle-inspired prints, while Project 62 and Threshold keep the mood cool with graphic hits of blues and blacks. Whether your seasonal refresh goals include an all-encompassing bedroom and patio do-over or a simple bookshelf face-lift, there’s little we love more than welcoming a new season with elevated swaps.

“Spring is a celebration of new beginnings—and the perfect time to breathe fresh life into your home,” says Target senior vice president and general merchandise manager Jill Sando. Most of the products come in under $50, with candles and Easter entertaining essentials starting at under $6. Larger outdoor sectionals and rattan patio chairs land in the $400 to $700 range. 

Here’s a first peek at the trends we’ll be embracing at Target this spring.

Jewel Tones

Rich, complex hues like ruby, sapphire, and emerald are more versatile than you think. If you’re not one for venturing too far outside your comfort zone, consider introducing saturated shades in pint-size doses.

What to watch out for: Art Deco–inspired stools.

Park one (or two) of these fringe finds near the foot of the bed for a bonus spot to drop your daily gear or designate one as a makeshift side table in the living room.

Tropical Prints

While in Hawaii, Target’s product design team drew on lush scenes of local flora and fauna for inspiration. While some pieces offer a literal picture of life on the equator, other objects evoke warmer weather through abstract prints.  

What to watch out for: vivid melamine dinnerware sets.

Up your outdoor entertaining game by setting a cohesive tablescape that will transport guests to the Amazon.

Nautical Blues

Bringing coastal-cool vibes home by way of saturated blues and striped accents is nothing new, but this season, Target is introducing texture to the mix. Whimsical wind chimes, tasseled throw pillows, and woven accent rugs are giving nautical a new name.

What to watch out for: earthenware ceramics.

If you’re only going to update one space, switch up your vignettes. Sculptural vases of varying heights will lend fresh dimension, while a cool hit of blue will transport your home to the oceanside.

Exposed Silhouettes

Leanne Ford’s exposed bulb pendants for Project 62 set the scene for embracing accents in their purest form. From terra-cotta planters to brass serving bowls, single-material items with clean lines are proving they’re just as cool as their textured and patterned counterparts.

What to watch out for: organic-modern outdoor furniture.

While Opalhouse’s rattan patio essentials will surely speak to bohemians and escapists alike, Threshold’s polished black and wood loveseats and armchairs make a case for embracing minimalism outdoors.
