This winter, we’re snuggling up with these cool, moody styles, available for sale on domino.com.

rug

Because a bare bedroom floor will always be cold, you’ll want a soft landing spot. While some prefer wall-to-wall carpeting in the bedroom, others just want a soft and fuzzy spot for stepping onto when they wake up in the morning.

bench

Sofa needs coffee table. Bed needs bedside surface. We say “surface” because it’s a spot for holding alarm clocks, books, a glass of water and carafe, reading glasses. As a general rule, this should be about the same height as the mattress.

swing lamp

Mounting your light source saves space and lets you control where you’re directing the light. (Nighttime readers, we’re talking to you.) The brass and black combo works well against the warm wood headboard.

necklaces

Your most reached-for accessories deserve a spot for resting safely, too.

(OK, we admit that this might not be the most organized method BUT it sure is pretty…)

linens for the moody blues

Since the bed is the star of the space, changing the linens will dramatically impact the overall look of the room. Invest in the right long-lasting pieces: pure organic cotton percale sheets that are perfect year-round.

throw

If you’re in love with your duvet and looking for a more subtle seasonal touch, add a throw. It’s the perfect way to work in color in a non-committal way. Choose a natural linen throw in varying shades of pink. The finishing touch.

artwork

Time to dress those dark walls with prints–or a collection of prints– that work together. Since the bed is the room’s focal point, the wall above it is valuable territory. The largest piece, your anchor, should be at least 2/3 the length of the headboard and its bottom should hang 8 to 10 inches above the headboard. Artfully arrange the others around the anchor piece. We suggest hanging pieces two inches apart. In general, the more tightly you group the art (especially in a small space) the more impact it will have.

paint

There’s no such thing as one universal color that will put everyone to sleep. But we can dream. Choose a color that makes you feel relaxed, calm, and in your comfort zone. Blue feels fresh, restorative, and restful too. We chose “Galapagos Blue” by Benjamin Moore.

headboard

The bed is this room’s focal point. Meaing: A bed without a headboard can often feel like a room without a focus. You don’t have to invest in a large, cumbersome piece, just measure and make sure it suits your bed. The ideal size will be: Wood warms up the space and plays nice against the moody blue walls.

Don’t sacrifice style. A tufted piece (in a luxurious plum) adds an elegant touch to a pretty classic setup.

bench 1

While drawers are always welcome (hello, extra storage), don’t feel the need to commit to the traditional bedside table. A soft surface can double as seating. If you’re feeling the blue palette, carry it through with a rich royal cushion.
