Stacey Griffith is a SoulCycle Senior Master Instructor and author of the upcoming wellness manual Two Turns From Zero. We checked in with the high-energy, NYC-based lifestyle guru to see how she winds down on the weekends and what she does in order to reset for the week ahead.
What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
I put my feet on the ground and thank the universe for everything in my life and ask it to protect my SoulCycle students for the day. Then I head straight to our Nespresso machine.
What are your favorite things to do for yourself on the weekends?
I love to ride or train on Saturdays, and I usually try to have a low key dinner with friends. I think people would be shocked to know that when it comes to weekends I really like to try to sit still for half of the day. My body (not as young as it used to be, but in almost the same shape as my 20’s) needs rest, so massages and looooong spiritual baths are important.
How do you deal when you’re away for the weekend?
It’s nice to unplug sometimes. I have to be on all week so some weekends when I go away, it’s nice to just decompress.
What are the activities or errands on your “must-accomplish list” every weekend?
We never do the same thing, every weekend is different. But I always spend time with my family and friends, whether it’s shopping at Barneys or cooking with my girlfriend, Deb. When we cook, one of my favorite things to do is chill in the Barcelona chair at the kitchen door with my feet up, while we catch up on the week and laugh. Deb cooks a mean steak with a salad, or some nights we have fish cooked in parchment paper with tomatoes and jasmine rice.
What do you do on Sundays to prepare for the week ahead?
I leave Sundays for sitting in the den to rest, catching up on emails, and writing my weekly Monday Motivation article for Motto.com.
