The reports are in: Southwestern style is going to be big in 2019. We saw the desert trend seep into the fashion runways this year (wondering why you’ve been seeing so many cowboy boots in the middle of the city lately?), and most recently, Etsy named it as a top style in its design trend report. Even color is taking note: Both Sherwin-Williams and Pantone named distinctly desert hues as their colors of the year. We’ll be seeing a lot of Cavern Clay and Living Coral, respectively.

Rough textures, earthy hues, and natural fabrics and materials take precedence within the Southwest style mentality. The trend is a great way to support smaller brands and artisans specializing in this style through traditional crafting techniques—look beyond the big box retailers and go for authenticity. If you want to bring desert vibes to your space, here’s where to start.
