Last week, Melida Williams shared with us a  Miami vacation property  that was nothing short of eye candy. This week she’s back, showing us another property owned by the same clients. No surprises here, it’s full of inspiring details and copy-worthy elements to try in your own stylish space!

WHAT BROUGHT THIS PROJECT ABOUT? DID THE OWNERS BUY WITH THE INTENT TO REDESIGN OR IS THIS SOMETHING THEY WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO FOR AWHILE?

My clients were looking to buy a property in South Florida for a while and jumped on the opportunity to renovate two fixer uppers. One was for investment (this property) and the other one was for their vacation home (see it here!). They are both located in South Beach and have great ocean views. The Mirador is within walking distance to Lincoln Road (a pedestrian walkway in the heart of South Beach).

IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY OF THIS PROJECT?

I love the beginning and right before the end. My favorite part is the initial process of reimagining the space. Both properties were in disrepair and needed a complete overhaul. My second favorite part is right before the end when all the pretty things start getting installed (millwork/ built-ins/ wallpaper) and you see the space finally start taking shape.

WHAT DOES YOUR CLIENT LOVE MOST ABOUT THIS REDESIGN?

In both of the properties, my clients love how personalized the spaces are. The two spaces have very distinct looks yet still both feel very Miami and very them. For this space, we went with a mostly white/ gray palette and pops of strong color.

ARE THERE ANY DESIGN ELEMENTS YOU USED IN THIS SPACE THAT OUR READERS SHOULD TRY FOR THEMSELVES AT HOME?

In general, my design advice is to invest in some good, classic furniture pieces, but always have a touch of the unexpected. Don’t be afraid to mix and think outside of the box. The best moments in these spaces are where we introduced something that’s a little off!

WE’RE HAVING MANY DIFFERENT KINDS OF CHAIR ENVY RIGHT NOW. YOU MUST TELL US WHERE THEY CAME FROM!

I have a chair obsession myself. For the desk chairs in the bedrooms, we wanted something fun and with a pretty back and profile (not your typical desk chair). In the master bedroom, we used the Frida black chair with Tibetan fur by Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams. It was so fun! As soon as I saw it in the showroom, I felt like saying “It’s so fluffy!” (in my despicable me voice). For the guest bedroom, the Francesca Chair has a great mid-century modern feel which complements the more graphic elements of the room.
