Rosie O’Donnell has a thing for real estate. The talk show host and comedienne owns multiple properties in cities including; Nyack, New York, West Palm Beach, Florida, and Saddle River, New Jersey—the latter two of which are currently on the market. Her latest purchase is an impressive addition to the collection: A four-bedroom, three-bathroom penthouse nestled in Manhattan’s Midtown East neighborhood.

According to Trulia, O’Donnell paid $8 million for the luxe apartment, but the stunning views and impeccable decor definitely justify the price tag. Designed with a decidedly zen-like motif in mind, the triplex includes Russian wide plank oak floors, a sculptural Guggenheim-inspired staircase, and custom architectural lighting. A glass-enclosed dining room opens up to the lofted living room, which comes complete with a black granite wood burning fireplace. The nearby onyx stone-topped wet bar is perfect for entertaining guests.

Also perfect for entertaining guests? The 1,620-square-foot rooftop, which includes integrated sound and lighting systems, a fully functional outdoor kitchen and bar, and dining area. Not to mention the sweeping views of the New York City skyline, from the East River to the Empire State Building.

Gorgeous views continue throughout the house, thanks to massive windows and a floor plan that flows.

“The owner Elaine Moleski, who is also a designer, took down numerous walls in the kitchen and master bedroom areas. She perfected the open plan between the living and dining rooms, allowing Eastern light to pour through into the entertaining spaces,” says listing agent Charlotte Van Doren. “She chose a very simple color palette of black, beige, and white that brings the space to life in a really refreshing, modern way.”

The color palette may be simple, but the luxury feel of the home is anything but. The 3,563-square-foot penthouse’s 33-foot-long kitchen comes with white Corian countertops, a giant island, top-of-the-line appliances – including a built-in espresso and cappuccino maker and a fridge that can hold 70 bottles of wine.

“On the lower level, I was so surprised to see the really nifty sauna —such a rare luxury in a New York apartment!” adds Van Doren.

In addition to the two-person Swedish sauna, the lower level also has two bedrooms and a full bathroom. The master bedroom suite and fourth bedroom are located on the main floor; the former of which includes custom closets, both a walk-in steam shower and a free-standing tub, and a huge glass-walled television.
