Foodies rejoice: Julia Child’s picture-perfect cottage in the Provencal countryside—dubbed La Pitchoune (“The Little Thing”) by Child and her husband Paul—is now available to rent on Airbnb. For just under $700 a night, the legendary bungalow, designed and built by the Childs in the 1960s, could be all yours, including the kitchen that helped spark the French cooking movement of the 1970s.

Nestled on several acres of rural land just North of Cannes, the cozy cottage once owned by Child offers three bedrooms (that can sleep up to six) and three-and-a-half bathrooms, as well as multiple gardens, terraces, and a saltwater swimming pool. Variety reports that the current owners bought the house in 2015 from the family that originally leased the land to the Childs. It has been updated since Child’s time, but many original details remain.

The home isn’t available on Airbnb year round: For five months of the year, it functions as a cooking school, La Peetch École de Cuisine: Courageous Cooking, with classes on offer from April to June and September through October.

The iconic kitchen—where Child mastered the art of French cooking—is completely intact and available for guests to use. Designed to fit Child’s unique culinary needs, the room is outfitted in pegboards and

for easy access to utensils and extra-tall wooden countertops to accommodate her 6-foot-2 frame.

The fully furnished living room is brimming with rustic accents, including terra-cotta tile floors, wood-beamed ceilings, French doors, and an oversized fireplace for indoor relaxation.

The home is filled with original pieces the Child’s left behind, including Paul’s old writing desk—which looks out to the property’s gorgeous, vine-covered gardens—in the master bedroom.

To offer a truly indoor-outdoor living experience, each of the cottage’s rooms opens directly to a trellis-shaded dining terrace—where Child loved to host her famous friends and houseguests.

Amidst the ground’s lush landscaping and olive trees you’ll also find a yoga garden and a stone-patio-encircled swimming pool. Child’s vacation home is definitely an entertainer’s paradise. Bon Apetit!
