The only thing more thrilling than stumbling across a brand-new vintage furniture shop is finding the exact, right, one-of-a-kind piece there. And though we’re familiar with the old guard of secondhand design places, during our hunt for the 50 best vintage furniture stores, we came across some new kids on the block that made us want to book a flight immediately just to shop their wares. Here’s where we’re headed for the perfect ’80s-era curvy sofa and all the mid-century.

The Stoop

Chicago’s just-opened vintage shop is only a few weeks old, but its varied collection—from a curvy Vladimir Kagan swivel chair to a mid-century bright yellow file cabinet—means it’ll be around for a while. “It was important for me to imagine that there is someone else out there who has a variety of items spanning over many decades, and then cater to those people,” says owner Sasha Shver.

Found

Tucked away in Birmingham, Alabama, is a trove of traditional American pieces, from antique dressers with brass pulls to bamboo plant stands (because you can never have enough). Flower obsessives will also love its collection of painted vases and pillows.

Creel and Gow

The storied Upper East Side’s outpost now boasts a new location in Millbrook, New York, where ornate wicker chairs mingle with perfectly weathered rugs and antique statues. It’s rustic without being woodsy, and refined without being stuffy.

Humble House

A favorite among Team Domino, the options at this Brooklyn store are always surprising and delightfully on trend (but never too trendy). I even scored my curved couch there last year, and have since bought a marble side table for $70 (!) and a burl-wood mirror with my sister.

A haven for ’80s and ’90s style, the funky finds at this brand-new Salt Lake City spot range from a burl-wood coffee table to a lacquered dresser. Among the area’s mid-century stores, this one stands out.
