Pottery Barn’s Newest Collaboration Makes Every Day a Celebration

At the launch of Monique Lhuillier’s first home decor collaboration with Pottery Barn, tulle, lace, and other dainty fabrics were at the forefront. Taking inspiration from Lhuillier’s new Spring 2018 collection, a sense of flirty romanticism took over, with delicate materials, intricate patterns, and the attention to detail that made the bridalwear designer a hit with several Hollywood tastemakers, including Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman.

“I’ve done tabletop before, but this is a whole homegrown category which is encompassing bedding, bath, tablescapes, and entertaining, and it’s something I’m so excited about,” Lhuillier tells Domino. “A lot of the designs came from my collections. You’ll see, the whole rose gold table collection is inspired by a dress that I did for my spring collection a few years ago—it was a pink tulle gown with heart confetti dripping all over it. We used that concept, and we did it in the dinnerware.”

Taking her cue from bridal registry, Lhuillier understands that for any reception, a bride wants chic, minimal, elegant, and, of course, affordable. This is why her dinnerware collection boasts blush tones, rose gold accents, elegant plates, and soft touches of white and crystal. Lhuillier says of the duvet set, “That idea came from the bridal skirts I’ve done, so the floral and infusing blush pink into it makes it young and fresh. It was a botanical story, and it’s a little more whimsical. It just made me smile, that collection.”

“I just think life is so short,” says Lhuillier. “I love celebrating even the little things of life—I think that’s how life should be lived to the fullest. And whether it’s a dress you buy from my collection or the tabletop, or the bedding, I just want my consumer to feel special in whatever it is she touches or uses. And I think that’s what I do. People think of me when they want something special in their life.”
