The Duchess of Sussex is keeping up a busy schedule as she nears her springtime due date, but she’s still making plenty of time for friends. Meghan Markle made a return visit to New York City for her baby shower yesterday, hosted by her close friends Serena Williams and Amal Clooney, The Tatler reported.
Williams allegedly chose the spot for the soiree, opting for the Grand Penthouse in the Upper East Side’s Mark Hotel, which, measuring 10,000 square feet and two stories, is allegedly the largest penthouse in the United States. You could very well say that it’s fit for royalty.
With a contemporary, neutrally toned aesthetic, the penthouse features plenty of plush seating areas, as well as a substantial rooftop terrace with a view of Central Park (which, given the snowy weather, was likely left unused). Every piece inside is also unique to The Mark: Custom furniture was designed by Jacques Grange, who has also made work for Monaco’s Princess Caroline.
The hotel also includes a restaurant by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who allegedly prepared a dessert table for the party, and included a floral-arranging workshop. With such sumptuous surroundings (which come at a whopping cost of $75,000 per night, supposedly covered by Williams), it was sure to be an affair to remember.
