After over a year of renovating (and documenting every update via Instagram), This Is Us star Mandy Moore has officially revealed her mid-century LA remodel… and it’s everything we expected and more.
The New Hampshire-born actress, who (alongside fiance and musician Taylor Goldsmith) first purchased the property back in February 2017, offers a peek inside the finished space in the July issue of Architectural Digest. Though the dreamy 1950s abode—which sits in the highly coveted Linda Vista area of Pasadena, California—was stunning in its original state, Moore promptly recruited interior designer Sarah Sherman Samuel and architect Emily Farnham to give the semi-dated home a contemporary facelift.
From selecting her kitchen appliances to nailing down her subdued color palette, we’ve been patiently following the actress’s remodel since word first broke that she and her hubby-to-be had scooped up the three-bedroom, three-bath pad. Now that we’ve finally gotten a look inside the star’s finished space, we can’t help but notice how incredibly on-trend her recently completed abode is.
She also partnered with AllModern to outfit the space (and help you bring some of her signature style home). Many of the items are quite affordable, including modern lighting for less than $120, and a woven area rug for $99.99.
Ahead, five new things we learned about the actress from taking a peek inside her ultra-chic retreat.
She loves pink.
Millennial pink, to be specific. While walking through her kitchen—which now boasts a sleek marble waterfall island andopen shelving
—Moore makes note of her blush dinnerware. “That’s sort of our big accent color, I would say,” she says in a video posted to Architectural Digest. Subtle splashes of pale pinks and greens make their way into almost every room.
Another surprising kitchen find? The Hawkins confetti glasses, which we also happen to keep around in our very own office kitchen.
She shops vintage.
Okay, so this one really shouldn’t come as a surprise, but we still have to give the star major props for not shying away from a furniture refresh. Now swathed in a dreamy lavender fabric, the vintage bench in Moore’s living room (which she sourced online and had reupholstered) is a prime example of what it means to blend old and new. While the piece’s curvaceous shape picks up on the other mod elements within the room, its pale purple shade brings the space up to speed.
She’s a fan of terrazzo.
Aren’t we all? Around the restored copper fireplace that divides the living and dining room, Moore and her seasoned team of designers opted for a chic terrazzo bench. A true labor of love, the actress notes that, together, Samuel and Farnham painstakingly placed each stone by hand to figure out the right configuration. This speckled, on-trend material extends a fun and fresh mood to the formal living area.
She mixes her metals.
Gold, copper, brass, oh my! From her custom Sarah Sherman Samuel coffee table with gold legs to the brass pendant lamps in the bedroom (which you can snag for yourself on Cedar & Moss), Moore’s abode is a medley of metallic finishes. Pops of soft pastels and basic neutrals help unify her eclectic mix.
She approves of digital art.
We love a budget-friendly hack, especially if said hack means you don’t have to drop a small fortune on your art collection.
While many celebrities might feel tempted—nay, obligated—to fill their homes with one-of-a-kind, million-dollar artworks, this star is going hi-tech. In one corner of Moore’s living room, a Frame TV by Samsung offers an ever-changing display of works from world-renowned artists, from Picasso to Renoir.
