Dramatic matte black fixtures, along with shiny metal finishes like brass and polished nickel, have long been a popular choice, but lately we’ve got our eye on something subtler. Fashion designer Jason Wu created a new line of sink faucets for Brizo, and every last one of them is matte white.

According to a press release from Brizo, both the company and Wu identified this streamlined finish as an up-and-coming home trend, hence the entire collection is exclusively this refreshing hue. However, the veteran designer didn’t desert other materials entirely. Polished nickel and teak are two of the three handle options you can choose from. Plus there’s more to the pull-down faucets than just good looks. They feature smart touch technology, so all you have to do is tap the neck to get water flowing (an LED light will appear to indicate the temperature). Or if you’d rather tell it to turn on, you can hook it up to your Alexa or Google Home.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a faucet that isn’t a basic metal or boring black. Vola has been putting the fun back in functional with its rainbow assortment of taps, spanning electric yellow to hot pink, but those will cost you around $900. Wu’s sleek creations for Brizo are significantly less (the bar ones are in the $400 range; the pull-downs are around $700). Save this edgy accessory idea for your next kitchen remodel if you’re looking to brighten things up.
