Whether you’ve delayed your nuptials for the time being, you’re reimagining your celebration as a more pared-back affair, or you’re just starting to plan your big day after getting engaged in quarantine, there’s no bad time to dig into wedding inspiration. And designer Jeremiah Brent just shared a great idea from his and Nate Berkus’s 2014 wedding—one that not will not only make your tablescapes look positively enchanting but can also save you some money.

While showcasing a versatile crystal night-light from his Pottery Barn Kids collection, Brent noted that his love of gemstones led him and Berkus to “deforest” their whole nuptials with rock-crystal geodes in lieu of florals. While all kinds of crystals and geodes can vary greatly in cost, this untraditional approach can help you save money when you consider the price of fresh, expertly arranged bouquets (about $2,000, according to The Knot). Plus a pretty rock doubles as a great unexpected favor for guests, too.

Opting for a crystal touch doesn’t mean you have to entirely give up florals either—Brent and Berkus also incorporated white peonies and ranunculus into their tablescapes. A good balance can help you stay on budget without sacrificing any ambience.
