Get ready: It’s almost hygge season. The Danish concept has no direct English translation, but it basically encapsulates coziness, and it’s perfect for chilly nights when you want your home to feel comfortable, yet vibrant. And now, fashion designer Jenni Kayne is here to make all your fall hygge dreams come true.

Mostly known for her gorgeous knitted sweaters and uber soft pajamas, Kayne is no stranger to the home decor space—this fall, she worked on a line of breezy bedding in collaboration with Parachute, and it was absolutely dreamy. But now, she’s launching her first standalone home decor line, and it’s the perfect mix of California cool and warm, holiday-inspired comfort.

Standout pieces include soft alpaca blankets ($295), warming candles in a variety of unique scents ($85), and textured throw pillows ($135), and the style is gorgeously minimalist, but still evokes a fresh, inspired feel. Kayne sat down with Domino to discuss the materials and colors she chose, her her inspiration for the line, her favorite pieces, and of course, fashion.

What inspired you to launch a collection for the holidays?

I’ve always wanted to design my own home collection, but the timing has not been right. Finally, all the pieces came together for us this year. I wanted the collection be filled with really beautiful textures, and knew the coziness of winter would allow me to really express that. I also knew I wanted to incorporate nice travel accessories and candles—the holiday season felt like a natural time to offer those items. Our customers really count on us for special, well-made gifts. I can’t wait to see it all come together over the next few months.

What’s your favorite piece from the collection?

The felted alpaca color-block blanket ($350) is my favorite piece; it’s inspired by a vintage blanket I’ve owned and loved for years. I picked it up while traveling.

Which items do you think make the best gifts?

The alpaca slippers ($85) make great gifts—who doesn’t want nice slippers? We also have beanies ($95), gloves ($75), and sleep masks ($85) in the complementary fabrications, so you can mix and match things to make a little gift set.

I’m particularly drawn to the candle line—I love how different the scents are. How did you come up with those?

One of the things I love about living in California is the natural landscape and being able to spend a lot of time outdoors. I wanted the candle scents to evoke the subtle fragrances you find in nature. The Ash candle ($85) is my favorite: It’s made with clove, birchwood, balsam, and cedarwood, and gives a room a cozy, wintery feel, which I love. All of the candles are made and hand-poured right here in LA.

What was the thought process behind using alpaca?

I have always loved the soft, luxurious feel of alpaca, and its beautiful, visible texture. We use it in my apparel collection a bit, and I just love the way it feels and wears over time. We went to Peru to find a partner who would help us source and manufacture the wool in a sustainable, ethical, and high-quality way. We ended up working with an incredible women-owned-and-run production company that partners with various Peruvian artisans. The colors are muted, but still elegant.

What made you pick this color scheme?

I love neutrals, especially when it comes to home decor. I like to introduce color through artwork, a beautiful floral arrangement, or the natural landscape you see outside the windows. When your furnishings are done in soft colors, it really helps to shine a spotlight on those other elements. I think even as we expand

How would you describe the collection in a few words?

Cozy, timeless, organic, and special.
