I’ll be honest: I can’t say that I know my way around a toolbox. Sure, I can identify a Phillips-head screwdriver, and in moments of desperation that arise while assembling IKEA furniture, I’ve been known to pull out a sturdy wrench. I rely on Command strips whenever I need to hang things in my rental and I have never affixed a shelf directly to my wall. This is why I’ve never felt a need to acquire nails of any kind—until I met Hester.

Well, I didn’t exactly meet her, but I came upon her, as if in a vision, through Coming Soon’s website. Hester is, of course, not a person, but rather a three-inch-long brass nail with a globe-shaped head. And she is the most beautiful nail I’ve ever laid eyes on.

The brainchild of Fabiana Faria and Helena Barquet, the dream duo behind Coming Soon, this high-design take on an unassuming toolbox trinket makes for a versatile decorative accent or storage solution. Just hammer it into your wall and you can use it to hang up a decorative tassel, your keys, an umbrella, your dog’s leash, a wind chime, a mobile, your purse, a celebratory banner, a tote bag, a beautiful dustpan, a necklace, a good luck charm, a calendar, or… well, you get the point.

You may not need a designer nail, but I am convinced that one—at least, this one—has the power to make your space feel a little more special. You could say that Coming Soon has really nailed it on this one.

So why not shell out a reasonable $12 for a simple tool that boasts a perfect balance of form and function in addition to sharing a name with one of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s most iconic characters? If you choose to, you’ll really be hitting the nail right on the head.
