Luxe, leafy wallpaper. An ornate entryway mirror. An antique vivid red carpet. These are not the details of a cozy, eclectic home; they’re the standout moments in Los Angeles’s coolest new restaurant. Gucci just opened its first Stateside eatery, helmed by Michelin-starred chef Massimo Bottura, and the design inspiration is reason enough to book a flight out West.

Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura Beverly Hills, with a name almost as impressive as its interior, is loosely influenced by elements of the brand’s Florence outpost. However, certain features, like the herringbone flooring and old-school cherry red banquettes, are 100 percent L.A. While you can’t snag a reservation just yet—the sure-to-be-hot spot officially opens on February 17—you can get inspired by the covetable decor.

The DIY Flooring

In Italian marble, it’s not the most affordable project—this is Gucci, after all—but the detailed mosaic floor proves there’s more than one way to do patterned tile. Rather than go with a premade design, choose two colorways and create your own motif out of the tiny squares.

The Painted Trim

Both the doorframes and outdoor beams are coated in a pale mint green. Take a page from Gucci’s book and ditch bright walls for a more subtle color moment—it will save you money, too.

The Statement Ceiling

Another approach to adding character without splashing out on a big space? Turn your painting efforts to the ceiling. When paired with simple golden wallpaper in the dining area, this matte black surface packs a punch. If there’s one lesson we can take home from the fashion brand that once brought us a runway show full of replica model heads as accessories, it’s to take the risk.
