Gray Malin has built a career off dreamy beach shots—he even turned the stunning beach imagery into a book, thus showcasing his instantly-recognizable photography and inspiring all sorts of wanderlust.

Now, Malin is taking his photography beyond the sea with the release of his second book, ESCAPE. Available on October 3 (and available now for pre-order), this project delves into a more personal side, sharing anecdotes and journal entries for behind-the-shot moments that give fans an insight into Malin’s life. ESCAPE also shares a wider range of photography, including everything from snowy mountains to cityscapes. And if you love Malin’s signature beach shots, don’t worry: There are plenty of those, too.

“With ESCAPE, I had the opportunity to share a larger assortment of my work,” says Malin. “My favorite part of putting together ESCAPE was storytelling alongside the images for people to better grasp and connect with my artwork—I really enjoyed digging up old journal entries, while also looking through my archive to showcase behind-the-scenes images.”

The book is divided into landscape categories, transporting the reader to a range of destinations. “Surf” captures some of the world’s best-known surfing locales, including Byron Bay, Australia. “Isles” furthers the beachy motif, visiting tropical islands and capturing stunning aerial shots of the water and surrounding landscape. And you can hold onto summer a little longer with “Pools,” a colorful and almost retro-inspired take on poolside lounging.

On the opposite end of the spectrum is “Snow,” in which Malin takes us through iconic mountainscapes, with gorgeous photography shot through a doorless helicopter. “Sand” provides insight into desert landscapes, and “Parks” prove that urban settings can have nature escapes through local parks—such as NYC’s Central Park or London’s Hyde Park.

“My brand is built upon the foundation that every day should be a getaway, and each body of artwork I produce is meant to transport the viewer to another place or state of mind,” says Malin of the diverse “escapes” presented in the book.
