Set in Stone: Simone Bodmer-Turner at Matter

When artist Simone Bodmer-Turner and Matter get together for a gallery show, you know it’s going to be good. The Brooklyn-based sculptor’s inaugural exhibition, “Take Part In,” is on view at Matter’s downtown New York City space from today through April 1. While her striking stoneware pieces may appear to be purely sculptures at first glance, many are also functional, such as the eight-drawer credenza with quirky labeled compartments, the table lamp with a fun take on a pull chain, and the coil-built chairs (that I dare say are comfy?). —Julia Stevens, associate style editor 

Pillow Flight: Block Shop x In Casa by Paboy

One good thing to come out of the pandemic? Block Shop’s pillow collaboration with In Casa by Paboy (the two textile brands first got in touch on Instagram during lockdown). Production was a worldwide affair: Block Shop’s graphic, block-printed linens, designed in Los Angeles and made in India, traveled all the way to Italy, where Gambian refugee Paboy Bojang used it—along with some colorful Naples cotton—to hand-sew a limited run of his ruffled and fringed confections. Florals for Spring: GJ Flower Shop

There’s a new florist in town, just in time for Valentine’s Day. GJ Flower Shop, the latest addition from Los Angeles’s favorite restaurant group that brought us Gjelina and Gjusta, creates custom arrangements and seasonal bouquets using flowers from SoCal farms. The best part? It focuses on minimizing their environmental impact by curating a selection of local and in-season stems. Wall to Wall: Eskayel x Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Wallpaper

Break out the watercolors! Furniture favorite Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams is furthering its quest for home domination with a new wallpaper line. The brand partnered with Eskayel, a New York–based textile studio known for its painterly palette, to launch a six-pattern collection that’s a take on modern Americana. Full Steam Ahead: Urban Cowboy Lodge Sauna 

Hot tubs get all the winter love, but during a recent stay at Urban Cowboy Lodge in New York’s Catskills, where there’s a claw-foot bathtub in every room, I spotted an even more alluring amenity: an Estonian sauna on the front lawn. The weekend I was there, temps were in the single digits, which turns out is the perfect weather for a 15-minute hang in the 200-degree, spruce-shingled sauna, then a roll in the fresh snow. —Julie Vadnal, deputy editor

Super Market: Pop-Up Grocer Miami 

Miami, you’ve got yourself a new grocer (for now). Pop-Up Grocer has appropriately dropped its very colorful and bright anchor in Wynwood for the month of February, bringing with it 130-plus food and drink brands to shop in person—many of which I personally love, like Ghia, Acid League, Fly by Jing, Wavy, Red Clay, and Haven’s Kitchen. The store, a primary color–and–tropicalia playland for packaging nerds, was designed by locals Chaz Capobianco of Capoco and Elizabeth Jaime of Calma, and also plays host to a daily menu of Fernanda Quintero’s baked creations.
